O n March 17th the lives of the Steger family were severely impacted when the news of former guitarist and original founding member of the band Underoath Corey Steger passed away after a deadly car accident in which another car rear ended him killing him on impact. Many folks will know him from being a part of the original era of Underoath with their first two deathcore records "Act Of Depression" in 1999 and "Cries Of The Past" in 2000. The music world grieves today with yet another member of the scene taken away from us too soon.  Our hearts go out to the Steger family as well as the remaining members of Underoath dealing with this sad and tragic loss.

T he Ohio native christian metalcore vets Convictions have returned with a new track called "The War That Followed Me Home" which is the follow-up to the band's highly successful single "The Price Of Grace" which will be from their upcoming record "I Won't Survive" which is set to release May 7th, 2021. The new track is a sense of bombast and explosive metal riffage that is perfect for anyone's metal playlist. The track is a perfect representation of the band's more melodic side while also having the chunky riffs, the monstrous screamed and clean vocals, and the pummeling drum and bass that flow perfectly together as a unit of uncontrollable rage. In 2021 we have already seen a drastic change in our country to get to a sense of some sort of normal. And while we're not there quite yet it is news that we've all been dying to hear. And when it comes to the music industry and where it's being led takes with it some eye rolls and wondering where has creativity gone; and on A Day To Remember's first album in five years "You're Welcome" that is the overarching question that lingers throughout the listen as you wonder how this record manages to go off the rails and never finds it's footing. Sure bands can evolve their sound as to being the reason for this record, but evolving doesn't mean sucking the soul out of a record that fans have been anticipating since 2019. So on "You're Welcome" how do the band manage to try and forego a formula that they are well known for and completely wash it out with a lazy follow up to their last record "Bad Vibrations"?.
