The 20 Most Anticipated Releases of 2021

As we enter 2021 we have already seen and heard new releases being announced for the new year so there's a lot to get excited for. And since we have entered a new year, let's see what we think are our most anticipated releases for 2021. So here is a list of "The 20 Most Anticipated Releases of 2021".

Disclaimer: Like our other lists these picks are our own most anticipated releases, so if we left one of your most anticipated releases let us know in the comments.

So without further a deux. Here is the list.

20: Red Heart - "The Casualty Of Love" (Release Date: March 2021)

After years of being on indefinite hiatus Red Heart returned in 2019 with their comeback ep "Villain" which was received positively by critics and fans alike. And now after two years they are back with their upcoming new full length record "The Casualty Of Love" which is currently set to drop in March 2021. With "Villain" it featured a new stylistic shift mixing their unique hard rock sound with new added elements of punk rock and post-hardcore reminiscent to the likes of Billy Talent and Sum 41. With a rumored tour with Hellyeah as well as other performances cancelled in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic it's going to be interesting to see what this new record holds from the canadian based hard rockers.

19: Beloved - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

While nothing is currently confirmed about whether or not a new Beloved record is coming but it is clear that they are currently in studio and have been working on something with producer Al Jacob so who knows what it could be. If it is indeed a new album then there's a lot to get excited about. After the release of their fantastic cover of U2's iconic track 'Like A Song' off of their equally as iconic record "War", we saw Beloved at their best while adding elements of punk rock and indie/emo to their unique hardcore/post-hardcore sound; So to see a new album come out from the band would be a glorious treat. It's awesome to have Beloved back and if 2021 truly holds a full on reunion from the band then a new album will hopefully be on the horizon.

18: Five Iron Frenzy - "Until This Shakes Apart" (Release Date: January 2021)

After a surprisingly successful kickstarter we are indeed getting a new record from Five Iron Frenzy. It's been almost eight years since the band's comeback record "Engine Of A Million Plots" and almost six years since "Between Pavement And Stars" so to say that a new album from the band has been long over due. The new record "Until This Shakes Apart" is currently set for a January 2021 release but whether or not the release date gets pushed back remains to be seen; but with a successful kickstarter and the release of two new singles being 'So We Sing' and 'While Supplies Last' it's safe to say that FIF are in a good spot right now and there's nothing but excitement for their new record "Until This Shakes Apart".

(UPDATE: In a strange turn of events the band did a surprise release for their new record "Until This Shakes Apart" which dropped on all streaming platforms today.)

17: Lights Go Down - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

Rumors have been circulating over the past few months about new music from the canadian pop punk band Lights Go Down and said rumors were later confirmed by front man Jason Dunn that the band have plans to reunite and write and record new music. If this is true then this will be the first release from the band in five years since their debut ep "We Kept It Alive" in 2015. While no new news has circulated since the band's announcement on the After The Encore podcast with Joe Shaw; it's safe to say that there is something going on in the Lights Go Down camp that fans should be getting excited about whether or not it's another ep, new record, a bunch of singles, whatever the case maybe. It's safe to say that 2021 might be on the horizon for new Lights Go Down music.

16: Albatross - "Arbiter" (Release Date: January 22nd, 2021)

After years of silence and inactivity it looks like we are indeed getting a new record from the metal band Albatross. After the release of their albums "Dead Risen III: The Monarch" in 2018 and "Dead Risen IV: Life Without Meaning" in 2019; fans were not expecting new music to come from the band so soon but after putting the band on hold to regroup the band were supposed to go on tour with Blood In The Works and The American Scene in 2020 signaling a fresh start for the band but due to the ongoing pandemic and bad timing the tour and subsequent shows were cancelled. In an interview with The Music Enthusiasts (our former subsidiary) front man Matt Bellamy talked about the potential of new music, he stated that "If or when we feel like the time is right, then and only then we will think about the potential of new music". While any mention of the record was kept under wraps it's great to see that the band decided to pull through with a new record and it will be great to hear the new record "Arbiter" when it drops on January 22nd.

15: Demon Hunter - "Songs Of Death And Resurrection" (Release Date: March 5th, 2021)

While not a new record in the sense that it is an album with new tracks but instead a recreation release of tracks from previous releases with a new coat of paint. Demon Hunter's new record "Songs Of Death And Resurrection" sets out to challenge the band in recreating fan favorite tracks with full orchestral pieces and mellow rock style while still trying to stay true to what those original recordings and what made those tracks memorable. If you watched the "Songs Of Death And Resurrection" livestream then you know what the band is setting out to do, and we will get to hear this new recreations record when it drops on March 5th.

14: Phinehas - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

The time has finally come. It seems that we are finally getting a new Phinehas record. It's been almost four years since the release of "Dark Skies" in 2017 and the band's signing to Solid State Records, and since members Daniel Gailey and Isaiah Perez joined both Fit For A King and Love And Death; It's safe to say that the wait has been long awaited. While no release date is confirmed it seems like 2021 will be the year for new Phinehas music down the line, with teases to new music popping up on their social medias and confirmation that they have been in the studio off and on in 2020. It's safe to say that new Phinehas music is definitely on the horizon.

13: Architects - "For Those That Wish To Exist" (Release Date: February 26th, 2021)

In the laundry list of bands and artists working on new music during quarantine add Architects to that list with their upcoming new album "For Those That Wish To Exist". It's been three years since the band's last album "Holy Hell" and five years since their former member Tom Searle died of cancer in 2016 so seeing them move on from that is inspiring. While in 2020 the band released two singles "Animals" and "Black Lungs" some fans picked up on the more mainstream sound that wasn't present on the band's previous records and took the new direction seemingly with open arms. And with this new direction brings a new perspective and new era for the band so it will be interesting to see what the band brings to the table with "For Those That Wish To Exist" when it drops on February 26th.

12: I, The Breather/Breather - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

When I, The Breather came back onto the scene no one expected them to return and with such force and anger with their comeback single "Prey" and with that single came with the announcement of a reunion and a new brand now calling themselves Breather. While no news of when an album will be dropping they are currently in the studio writing and recording new music with the addition of new members Logan Young (Reflections, Dal AV) and Nik Nocturnal (Termina, YouTube) being added into the fray it seems like more new music is on the way. Whether an album comes out of this remains to be seen but nonetheless the excitement for new I, The Breather is there and here's to hoping that a new record comes soon.

11: Chevelle - "Niratias" (Release Date: March 5th, 2021)

After five years of patiently waiting for new music from Chevelle we are finally entering a new era for the band and awaiting the new record "Niratias". The band dropped the ball out of nowhere with a new single "Self Destructor" and a new record announcement following after and a new era of firsts for the band. This will be the band's first release as a duo as their long time bassist Dean Bernardini announced his departure from the band in 2019 and with that came a new outlook on what new Chevelle would sound like. Taking notes from Royal Blood the band's new style incorporates their signature hard rock sound with elements of garage rock reminiscent of Royal Blood. It's safe to say that if "Self Destructor" is any indication of what "Niratias" will sound like then it will be a glorious listen when it drops on March 5th.

10: Fallstar - "Sunbreather" (Release Date: February 12th, 2021)

After five years of silence we are finally getting new music from Fallstar. "Sunbreather" is considered by the band as "the greatest record ever made" and based off the singles it's already turning out to be one of the best releases of the year thus far. With a band like Fallstar it's interesting to see them going from their usual nu-metalcore style while also adding elements of hardcore, deathcore, post-hardcore, alternative rock, and elements of their side band Northlander. It's cool to see the band return after such a long break between records and it's exciting to see what "Sunbreather" will hold when it drops on February 12th.

9: Love And Death - "Perfectly Preserved" (Release Date: February 12th, 2021)

If you had told someone that Love And Death would release a new record in 2021 you would be told that you are crazy but it is indeed true that we are getting a new Love And Death record titled "Perfectly Preserved". This new record marks a new era for the band as this is the band's first record without label Tooth & Nail Records and is the first record with the introduction of members Jasen Rauch (Breaking Benjamin, Red) and Isaiah Perez (Phinehas) added into the fray. It's been almost seven years without a Love And Death record and almost four years since the "Lo Lamento" single drop so to say that new music from the band is finally coming is insane to think about. We are indeed getting new music from Love And Death and it's exciting to see what this record truly holds when it drops on February 12th.

8: Weezer - "Van Weezer" (Release Date: May 7th, 2021)

"Van Weezer" is a project that has been talked about since the release of "The Black Album" in 2019. As an ode to both Eddie Van Halen and Van Halen itself; Weezer's love letter to the 70's and 80's hair metal scene with their signature geek rock sound have already been amplified with the singles "The End Of The Game", "Hero", and "The Beginning Of The End". As the band tries to create a rock anthems record that harkens back to the days of old. When talking about the record front man Rivers Cuomo stated that it would take the band "back to big guitars" and that the world was "ready for some shredding again". If the singles are any indication on what "Van Weezer" will hold then that's something to get excited about. If "Van Weezer" truly holds "shredding" again then that's something to get excited about when it drops on May 7th.

7: Convictions - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

It's been a while since we have had a new album from Convictions and 2021 might be the year that we get it. After a successful string of tours and lineup changes with adding Danyal Suchta into the fray and releasing the singles "Hurricane" and "Everything I Wanted" the hype for new Convictions music is high and knowing that they have been in the studio writing and recording new music is such an awesome sight to see. Whether or not this means a new album remains to be seen but whatever it is it's cool to know that we have new Convictions music to look forward too in 2021.

6: Oh, Sleeper - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

It is clear that new music from Oh, Sleeper is coming after announcing that they have finished record their new record. While no release date is set it is clear as day that new music from Oh, Sleeper will be coming in 2021. After a successful comeback and releasing a very successful comeback record "Bloodied//Unbowed" in 2019. It's awesome to see the band back again with new music and in such a short time. While there's no set time as of now for when new Oh, Sleeper is dropping; just knowing that new music is coming at all should get fans excited for what new music from Oh, Sleeper holds in 2021.

5: Lorde - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

It's been almost four years since the release of Lorde's perfect second record "Melodrama" and with rumors circulating about a new record and memoir titled "Going South" which documents her trip to Antarctica in 2019. Whether or not the record and book will go together remains to be seen but it is clear that new music is indeed coming from the pop star in 2021 and there's nothing but sure excitement coming from us and seeing how incredible her past two records were it's exciting to see what new music from Lorde will hold in 2021.

4: Underoath - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

While nothing is set in stone that a new record is coming it is clear that Underoath have been working on new music and continue to work on new music. While the band have been and continue to go through their catalog via livestream performances and earlier in 2020 did breakdowns of all of their records; it's cool to see the new perspective that the band have on what new music will sound like; and if "Erase Me" and the subsequent guest features that they have done in the past it'll be interesting to see what new music from Underoath will hold in 2021.

3: Paramore - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

There's no doubt that new Paramore music is coming after subsequent posts from the band talking about how they have not broken up and that new music is coming and will be heavy harkening back to their pop-punk and rock roots; with front woman Hayley Williams saying that "We've found ourselves listening to a lot of older music that we grew up being inspired by". So to know that new music from the band is coming and the new music going back to pop-punk should get fans excited for what new Paramore music holds in 2021.

2: Bring Me The Horizon - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

While Bring Me The Horizon continue to roll out the "Post Human" series with their next ep fans have been wondering where the second installment has been after the successful "Post Human: Survival Horror" being a call back to their former metalcore styles from back in the day. With keyboardist and producer Jordan Fish stating that the band have been writing "on and off" and will be focusing on the next ep in 2021; while also stating that the band had planned to do "four ep's in a year, but "Post Human: Survival Horror" was almost an album, so I think the spacing will be a bit longer than intended". While PHSH was a fantastic return to form for the band to see what will come from the future of the "Post Human" series should get fans excited for what's to come.

1: Anberlin - "TBD" (Release Date: TBD)

The excitement for the return of Anberlin is still something that can never be shaken. After playing their first reunion show in 2018 and doing subsequent touring in 2019. Fans were eager to find out if new music was to come from this reunion the band had previously stated that the band "had no plans to stage a comeback after the reunion shows". But on a previous livestream event the band announced publicly for the first time that the band "had changed their minds and had decided to work on new music". In a later livestream the band had stated that they had been recording new music and had plans to go through their entire catalog via livestream performances which they are currently doing. While nothing is clear that a new record is coming or not it's cool to see that new music from the band is indeed coming at some point and time and to see that the band are not going anywhere seems like a good reason for fans to get excited for what's to come from new music from the band in 2021.
