Single Review | Anberlin "Two Graves" (They are back from the grave. And they are heavy)

"IF YOU WANT REVENGE, THEN YOU SHOULD DIG TWO GRAVES"

It's time. After years of isolation, Anberlin have returned with their first release in over 7 years since the release of their (as of now) final record Lowborn in 2014. After all of this time in-between releases, what does "Two Graves" have in store? and what does the band bring to the table after all this time away?

What makes "Two Graves" so special is the overflowing creativity and longevity that the band has been known for after all this time, the band's long-standing career has made them able to create and craft beautiful pieces of alt-rock bliss, and "Two Graves" might be among some of the bands' best and arguably "heaviest" material to date.

The evolving sounds of alt-rock and emo angst with additional elements of post-hardcore and hard rock, bring the track an extra added punch with a fast paced energy that crushes with all force. The electrifying guitar and bass, alongside the punishing drum patterns, and the beautifully harsh nature of the vocals from Stephen Christian; make's the song such a strong force in their discography that the evolving sounds make such a lasting impact. The empowering structure along with the heavy hitting breakdown at the end, it brings the song such a heavy weight that makes the track a force to be reckon with.

To summarize, This is one of the best songs that the band has put out in a long time, and after seven years of musical silence this is an impressive track that will make such a lasting impact, and after all this time "Two Graves" is something special and to think that when the band reunited in 2018 and stated that they had no plans to record and release new music, thankfully the decision was made to finally record new music after a long seven year hiatus.

To see new music from Anberlin after all this time is something to get excited about, and once this track gets a physical release this track will be something special. Time will only tell when a new record will surface from these vets of rock. - Samuel Cook
