Single Review | Bring Me The Horizon "DiE4u" (BMTH goes pop punk?!)

"SO PULL THE TRIGGER"

The time has come. After the massive release "Post Human: Survival Horror" in 2020, which signaled the return of the raw and heavy sound that Bring Me The Horizon were strongly known for in the past; fans were eager to find a super heavy and enthralling sound that in some cases had been absent since releases like "Sempiternal" or "There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret", letting people know that the band had not abandoned the metalcore infused sound that they were at one point known very strongly for. And, with the the release of their new single "DiE4u" we see the band familiar territories while also adding in new elements never before seen in their discography.

What makes "DiE4u" such an interesting piece of work is the flowing perspectives of what seems like two different eras of the band's evolving sound, while also paving it's own lane to create a massive sounding track destined to be permanently stuck in one's head.

The noticeable alt-rock sound previously heard on records like "That's The Spirit" and "Amo" takes center stage here as the fluctuating alt-rock and pop-rock soundscape meshing with post-hardcore, nu-metal, and even pop-punk stylings make for a listen that while not perfect, is still a good time, as Oli Sykes and company push through with a catchy, yet subdued track that fans should give a chance.

To summarize, This is a track that will turn some heads, for better or for worse. It's a track that while is fun, has an insanely catchy chorus and a hook that leaves a lasting impression. The flow between different genres, the surprising lack of that sure amount of aggression from the previous release, and a more "pop" like structure could turn away fans that were expecting a more aggressive and chaotic track reminiscent of the band's previous heavier offerings. But, for the fans that give this track time to sit and experience a more subdued melodic and upbeat tune, could give fans another favorite that harkens back to the band's more rock side on the spectrum.

Bring Me The Horizon know how to innovate while honing in on their craft; And, with "DiE4u" they do just that. Sure, the new sound is not going to be for everyone, but if you are looking for a different side of BMTH that just might scratch that itch, then "DiE4u" might do just that. It's safe to say that this sequel in the Post Human series will be a treat for fans to dig their teeth into. - Samuel Cook
